About PPL Helicopter
The PPL(H) theory syllabus covers the same six examinable subjects as the fixed-wing licence, with the technical subject written for rotary aircraft: rotor systems and autorotation, translational lift, vortex ring state, and the performance planning that hot and high conditions force on every flight. Asessly practises all six subjects with the helicopter-specific material treated as the core rather than an appendix.

Common questions
About PPL Helicopter and how Asessly prepares you for it.
Questions about Asessly itselfHow does PPL(H) theory differ from fixed wing?
The shared subjects such as air law, meteorology and human factors overlap heavily, while the technical and principles-of-flight content is helicopter-specific, covering rotor systems, hovering and autorotation.
Who examines New Zealand PPL(H) theory?
The Civil Aviation Authority of New Zealand sets the requirements, with examinations delivered through Aspeq. You book and pay through Aspeq's online system, applicable papers are auto-marked with the result available immediately, and each sitting produces a Knowledge Deficiency Report naming the syllabus reference behind every question you got wrong.
Does Asessly practice count towards my licence?
No. We are not affiliated with the Civil Aviation Authority of New Zealand or Aspeq, we do not deliver official examinations, and Asessly practice does not count towards licensing requirements.
Are these real examination questions?
No. They are original Asessly questions written to practise the same subject areas.
Can I use fixed wing material for the shared subjects?
For air law, meteorology and human factors there is real overlap. For principles of flight and technical knowledge there is not, and that is where borrowed material causes the most trouble.
